Concept of Medicine
Medicine is a drug used to treat diseases. Ideally medicines are required only when you are in a disease state. . It has no role in a healthy state or in indisposition (refer to concept of disease section). Many people consume medicines even when it is not required. Sometimes simply rectification of the faulty lifestyle is enough to rectify the deviated body process and cure the disease rather than consuming medication. If we consume unnecessary medicine, then it itself may deviate or weaken the body process and cause some chronic disease (medicine side effect).
Correct Medicine is that which
a) Can rectify the deviated body process.
b)Medicine doses in terms of its strength and frequency should not go on increasing when it is used for cure of disease.
c) No new symptom should develop during its course of action.
d) Medicine should not alter or deviate the function of another normal body process or structure of another normal cell and tissue during its use (side effects, iatrogenic disease)
e) Medicine is not food that it should be taken lifelong, unless the disease is in advanced pathological stage or incurable where only palliative mode of treatment is possible
f) In chronic disease, if it only controls the disease (altered chemical substances) but does not cure (rectification of body process), then patient may land up in palliative mode of treatment after a few years.
g) Be careful while consuming medicines from any mode of treatment, because medicine may be curative in action, just control the disease, be suppressive, or palliative
Stay healthy so that there is no place for medicine in your life. It is fully in your hands to
remain healthy, whereas alleviating you from sickness is in the hands of the doctors
